For once, I have to agree with Robert wholly. This blog post is both well written and succinct.
While I am very much and advocate for open public records, I have no qualms with having such matters redacted before being put "out there" for the whole world to see. Indeed, if the government and instrumentalities of the state are going to maintain our public records, at our tax dollars, then they can certainly act responsibly to ensure that undue personal data is not compromised due to bureaucratic negligence.
Most of these officials, elected or appointed, are bonded in office. Perhaps there is a case to be made for some sort of insurance claim against their bond?
