So, the problems in the title industry are the fault of Obama, those of us who voted for him, and a guy who invented character recognition software?
Get a grip! I strongly disagree. Did Obama invent offshore title searching? Did advances in character recognition technology force companies to offshore their title work or reduce searching standards?
By the way, not everybody in this industry was complacent, and not all are complacent today. In particular, I recall a group of energized title professionals who started an industry association for title searchers a few years ago. The founders of that association came from across the political spectrum, but they were united by the goal of improving their industry. They may not have totally succeeded, but they sure as heck weren't complacent. While folks such as yourself were moaning and complaining, they were putting in work. The work goes on today with a new group of leaderswho are actually trying to make change for the better. People volunteered their time-- time that they probably did not really have to spare away from conducting their own businesses-- and still do so today, to improve this industry.
I see a lot of self-contradiction in your post. You bemoan the fact that Americans just want to know "what's in it for me", and then you turn around and demand that your representatives work for your personal benefit. You talk about your father's integrity like it is your own, then indicate that you've made a "good chunk of money" like it bestows some sort of privilege on you.
Merely being tired or pissed off about things without doing anything constructive about it is not the opposite of complacency. It's really a big part of complacency.
