In California, we tell them to courier it by next-day air to the County Recorder directly as California's State Government Code requires the Recorders Office to examine and record or reject for cause such deliveries within 2 operational days of receipt. 

  The funny thing is that most such documents are executed incorrectly in some manner and are then rejected, stuck in a mail pile to be returned within the next few weeks.
