You have spent time & money traveling to the county, completing the search, absorbing copy fees, faxing or emailing the search.  If the job does not close, what money is your client out???  You completed your part of the transaction.  If your client has a policy with their client to not charge for unclosed files (not even a cancellation fee???), Then I would say that is THEIR problem not yours.

Abstractors are the lowest paid in the whole process to begin with---now they want you to not only not get paid---but actually lose money!.  I would say NO NO NO a thousand times NO!!!
