That sounds very strange that they would destroy records after 10 years. However, I don't think that they underlying case would be necessary to enforce the judgment if it is recorded and still valid. So, you did the right thing by showing it, in my opinion. It might be nice if you had access to the case and could provide the case number, but I don't think it is neccessary to make the judgment enforceable.
In Ohio, judgments are typically only good for 5 years, unless they are in favor of the government. But, I believe that the cases are kept in storage for much longer if they were actually needed for any reason.
