It very well could have been a software limitation. There have been similar instances here, though not with names - more often it is the description of property. When they run out of room, they simply put "SR" in the last field... "See Record."

Again... a problem we didn't have with the books. Although, sometimes laziness was a factor and they would still write "SR" in the books. I guess there is no perfect solution.
