As the President has stated this week..."The insurance industry is out of control." State regulation through the insurance commissioners has not worked. Otherwise we would not be where we are with their ridiculous rate hikes...e&o insurance...health care insurance....etc. Unified federal regulation is needed.  I endorse his call for bi-partisan health care reform, and am delighted to see that the upcomming summit will be publically televised. Perhaps more transparency will reduce obstructionism and pork barrel legislation. It might be a good idea to extend the transparency to  require video taping or court reporter transcipts for all lobbyists' meetings with congressmen, senators and government agencies.
