Re: Dishonest abstractor? - Alan Roides/NY

Good morning.

My name is Alan Roides and I am one of the owners of WebTitle Agency in Rochester. We service the entire state of NY and many others and would not be able to do so without vendor partners in the field - like Ryan and his team at 24 Hour as well as the person he is referring to.

Not naming names but putting a post out there just seems wrong to me - perhaps a phone call could have been made to one of the clerks to verify first? And, if it was confirmed - name names so people can make an informed decision?

I spent much of the mid/late 90's covering 7 counties by myself and was often allowed to use various copy code accounts for the different companies I was contracting for. Perhaps that is the story here?

Perhaps giving a fellow abstractor with a wife and children the benefit of the doubt and calling them directly to discuss would have been a better course of action?

As for looking at people's work and calling their clients and undercutting them - anyone who does that should be ashamed of themselves.

I will say that traveling abstractors are often not the most popular people in some clerk's offices as the "local" companies view them as "stealing" clients - even if they are not "peeking" as the marketplace has never been more competitive and many title companies continue to layoff/downsize so more and more independent contractors are on the road everyday.

Anyone that has a concern about the above 3 counties should call the clerk or staff member there and ask directly for facts.

That is what I did. There was no stealing.

Regards,

Alan Roides
