I agree, Robert.  I only cover certain counties in VA.  If my client needs a search in a county I don't cover, there are abstractors in those counties that I will recommend to that client (again, abstractors who don't handle the same territory I do).  In return, if they get something for my coverage area, they will send a client to me.  It really only works (with no paranoia about "stolen" clients) when you are doing this with someone who shares NONE of the same territory.
