Ronda: I have advocated payment this type of payment system on Notary Rotary. In my mind you are an independent notary and the borrower should just pay for your services at the table. If the lender wants to put it on the HUD, they can mark it as POC.
I believe that realtors, lenders, borrowers and title companies who demand and expect free services from abstractors, title agents and signing agents are thieves.
I get a down payment of $300 via credit card from all consumers who opt into our Choose and Save program. We've been doing it for over a year and love it. Yes, there are some fees and extra accounting but it sure beats being stiffed.
