Whoa... I see someone is a touch defensive. I just think that everyone should know who they are doing business with. In fact, that is one of the problems that abstractors seem to have - they get a call and they extend thousands of dollars of credit to an anonymous email address or fax number. The person on the other end could be the same person who burned them a month earlier operating under a different name.
I'm not sure what you think was defamatory in my post. I did say that "if you are current with everyone, I applaud your efforts." If you aren't, then you will have to admit that there is a certain irony to the situation. And, if your attorney billed you for sending me a letter, I'd have a talk with him - I've never received anything.
I don't understand the problem with posting your name on the site:
I did not post it on the site because the address I listed is a business address and mail in my personal name would not be recognized.
Are you saying that if I send a letter to "Rob Arnold, PO Box 2693, Liverpool, New York 13089," you will not get it? I have a commercial address also, and I don't have any problem getting my mail whether addressed to "Source of Title" or "Robert A. Franco." Maybe I'm just not understanding what you meant.
In any regard... I don't have a problem with what you are doing - I hope it helps people avoid getting stiffed by clients. And, you are doing it for a reasonable price - I have no reason to believe that you are trying to cheat anyone. So, why not be more open about it? Put up an "about us" page on the Web sites - tell everyone your story. Let them know that you understand what it's like not to get paid and admit to people that you have been on both sides of that equation. Tell everyone of your person struggle with collections and taking care of the abstractors you couldn't pay. Put your name on it. Heck, if you had been that forthright about it, we would have been happy to check it out and write a review - even help promote it a bit.
