The New York Times has an interesting article about how many housing markets are being negatively impacted throughout Europe. The article places the blame on lenders that were too eager to hand out mortgages to people who didn't qualify for the loans and the article also touches on inflated values of homes.
Spain appears to be in the most trouble with Ireland and Great Britain not far behind. The existing-homes are also hurting the construction market because development is at a standstill. I'd encourage everyone to take a glance at the article. It's very interesting and raises the question of whether subprime lenders are behaving unethically around the globe.
