Maybe that's because Joe Citizen can't see the hazards of placing their sensitive information online from the perspective of PROFESSIONALS who work with those records EVERY DAY.  To put one's head in the sand and pretend that the danger doesn't exist just because no one in your "sphere" is talking about it is short-sighted and foolhardy.  That's just asking for trouble.
