Is the sixty years back, or to an older general warranty deed just an accepted norm there or does Virginia now have a marketable title act?  I recall prior to the marketable titlle act here being amended in 1976 that the conservative approach was to go with sixty rather than the 40 plus requirement under the act.  We still have enough exceptions to the act that a full search sometimes still means sixty, and in some cases somewhere prior to 1900.
