I think the worst I've had is one we are doing right now in Orangeburg county for a quiet title suit. The family started with one surname, then inexpicably changed it to another surname years later, with two variant spellings of the new surname. One of the pivotal heirs used both of the spellings and also interchangeably used his first name followed by middle name and sometimes middle name followed by first name. Couple all that with the fact that the county, except for the original deed in 1924, doesn't acknowledge this property exists. Oh, they have a tax map number and they are paying taxes, another entity is being taxed for a full parcel with the county having drawn a dotted line on the tax map to show where they "think" our heir's property lies. Except the county just changed their minds about that this year. Last year the dotted lines were drawn within another parcel. I LOVE south carolina! I will NEVER go hungry here!
