Receivership is a remedy sought by a creditor. A receiver is appointed by the court to receive and supervise the defendant's payments. The client is still free to develop his business and to develop new clients for additional revenue. However, it is more difficult for the client to divert the abstractor's fees to cover his internal shortages because of the receiver's supervision. Each state has its own procedure. The cost is the usual costs and expenses of litigation.
