Robert, may I suggest that you start a network.  A private group for abstractors in your State or County.  As a notary, we have some giving away services ($50 edoc refi) because it is pocket change to them... (stay at home mom, husband w/insurance) once educated on what they could be getting their fees change.  Just a thought.  [My fee's are going up $25 per for anything over 14 miles, my vehicle gets 18 miles per gallon.]
