You know...so much of this problem could be eased if the abstractors simply asked to have the following included in the search order from the client...
1. Ask that the amount of the fee be stated in the order.
2. Ask that the payment date for the search be mentioned
in the order.
3. Refer to the matter to collection in a timely matter if
payment is not made as agreed.
Works for the signing agents. I really have little sympathty for those that fail to protect themselves accordingly.
