Well... I don't think you are comparing apples to apples. Attorneys have much more education and are probably perceived as being less of a risk. Remember, anyone can become an abstractor - just take an online course!
I partnered with an attorney several years ago to start a title agency. The agency was covered on his attorney malpractice insurance and the rider for the additional E&O coverage for the abstracting and title operations was a very small percentage of what my E&O had previously been.
