I confess. Me, too ... - Bobbi Shorthouse, Notary Public/CT

I had an out-of-state "title company compliance officer" scream at me to change my Connecticut compliant notarization blocks to something that does NOT comply with Connecticut law.  She pointed out that "All the other Connecticut notaries do it.  Our lender requires it.  I am not asking you to do anything illegal."

I NEVER mentioned the word "illegal," which leaves me to believe in the entire state I am not the only notary public that wouldn't comply.

My response, "I did not say it was illegal.  What you are asking is 'official misconduct' under Connecticut notarial law and unethical.  As a public official, I am 100% liable for my actions.  I am NOT changing the notarization blocks.  If you don't like this, don't pay me for this assignment."

Laugh of the Day:  The lender requires we publish signer's drivers' license numbers on the PUBLIC land records and the title company wanted me to "fax the new notarization blocks" to be attached to the documents.  Duh?

Happy to be joining you in the same dinghy or yacht.  I am not asking for foregiveness and I KNOW no Connecticut title company attorney would follow these lender requirements.
