Give 'em hell, Gunny!!  Hopefully this "person of the damp persuasion" will fail to show up for the court appearance.

I know it's easy to say, not being in your shoes at the moment, but it's been my experience that these things have a way of working out for the best.  I don't know if you're a man of faith, but read Romans 8:28.  It's often been a source of comfort and support to me in situations such as yours.
