Kevin, In response to your question on the time frame of the posts. I believe that, Ellen posted the evening of the 12th, you posted in a matter of minutes, the first post from a NALTEA member who was not in agreement with this plan was the evening of the next day.
I looked back & I believe that out of all the posts, 5 maybe 6 were from NALTEA members. Only two of those members were on the NALTEA Board at the time, one being me. I will agree that the posts from those members, aside from myself who did not voice an opinion, were not favorable to the idea that NALTEA become a title insurer. I really don't think that 5 or even 10 would constitute a majority of the membership of NALTEA. So your statement that "the response from NALTEA was negative" was again inaccurate.
None of the posts were saying that the co-op plan was bad, just that they did not think that NALTEA should be the vehicle used to implement the plan. I agree with you, I think Ellen's idea was very innovative.
I have the nothing but respect and admiration for Ellen Malloy. I have only met her one time face to face but from that meeting, conversations & posts on this forum, my opinion of Ellen is that she is a "TRUE" title person. She understands not only the process of going into the court house to do a search, but the industry as a whole. That knowledge encompasses quite a bit of territory, and it isn't something you pick up in a day or two. I would ALWAYS listen to ANYTHING Ellen had to say.
Anyone that posts an idea or even a thought on this forum has got to have more then a strong fortitude, because they know that they are probably going to be eviscerated by people on this forum. I believe that is why there are so many views, and not nearly as many posts. Why would anyone want to put themselves through that, especially when all they really want to do is make a living & feed their families. There are a great deal more abstractors out there then post here. Just as there are a great deal more then 5 NALTEA members. NONE of us speak for EVERYONE!! It would really be nice to hear from more of these people, but until some of the regular users of this forum start listening and respecting other opinions, and have a conversation or decent debate instead of attacking, bickering, bringing the conversation down so low that no one wants to hear it anymore, that is not going to happen.
