Don,
I have been in the business for 24 years and I understand what you are going through, when I started Computers were just coming into the business and fax machines what were those. Times have changed. I started at a company that had 2 offices covered most of Michigan during that time grew to have 26 satellite offices for closings and 4 complete title, escrow, construction and law offices in them. I left there in 1998 to move out of state. I now hear that they have had to lay people off for the first time in over 30 years of business. We are all concerned about the industry because many, many jobs depend on the Housing Market along with the economy. We do not buy houses, cars, luxury items, because we can no longer can afford them. We have lost the automotive industry. Small business's cannot afford to stay open. I applaued you for speaking out and it does seem that the companies we are working with care less about our closing issues and legalites but only that we cut our fee's and not their's to get the deal done. I have seen some Mortgage Brokers charge high origination and the customer complain, but we in order to keep the business cut our fee's to almost nothing so the Broker can buy their new boat or invesments properties. I think with the market we all need to cut somewhere and not just always the title company. Good luck in your endevors to keep your company open.
