Are you guys working for the same TransUnion that I'm working for? Or is this maybe just a warning that things could turn bad at any time? I know that they have two offices, one in Delaware (which I believe is their main operations center) and one in North Carolina, which is a company they purchased a few years back that used to be known as Atlantic Assurance. At any rate, I use their computer software, I set my own fee schedule, I refuse to reduce my rates when they ask, and if they try to arbitrarily impose any restrictions on my fees or work that I am unable to live with, I simply call them and tell them that they have to play the game my way or I'm taking my ball and going home (I read that line in one of Robert's blogs lately, and I had to giggle, because that is a line I have been using for a lot of years!).
As far as payment is concerned, Transunion generates a "proactive detail" which essentially an advance check stub that they e-mail me a few days before my check arrives. That "detail" lists all the orders they are going to pay and how much they are going to pay me, so I have a chance to review the work that I have done for them in the time frame that the detail covers, and raise any disputes IMMEDIATELY. That proactive details also states that you MUST dispute any fees within a certain time (it might be 60 days), but if I had a dispute with them that they wouldn't discuss with me (which has never happened), I would simply sue them. They pay every two weeks and I have had very little to no problem getting payment from them, and have NEVER had my check docked even when I made errors with their software or had to go back and fix something on a report.
Maybe I'm the only person in my state that they haven't angered ... I don't know, but they have been a very good client for me for 4 or 5 years now.
