we have promoted ourselves as licensed abstractors in the State of Kansas and Missouri. Most companies were unaware that abstractors had to be licensed in either state. Not really sure if it has helped get us more business in Kansas or not.
As far as Missouri goes they will charge $25 a month for each month that you abstract without a license. I am not aware of what the penalties are for Kansas and hope not to find out. Both our company and our individual abstractors are licensed in Kansas. I have not heard about any enforcement activity, but I have heard that Johnson County, Kansas, probably the busiest county in the state, has posted a sign that non-licensed abstractors are not allowed in the Recorder's Office.
