Thanks for all the imput. I had contacted the client not too long after I posted my question and after talking with her, I had decided to charge about $30.00/hour. (Coincidently a happy medium, George). They are working on some book for the family and it will be split with others so I didn't feel too bad in asking more and I after I emailed her all the info I found and what I would be mailing to her, she seemed pleased. I hope that that will be the case when she gets it. Fortunately, Rowan Co. is 15 min from my house so not bad gas/mileage problems..only the copies that you can't get on line are .50 cents each...which is most of the really old stuff. That hurts. What is the average copy price for you guys? The average around here is about .25 cents/page. Thanks again for the advice and imput. It was interesting work...Rowan Co. was one of the original Lords Propreitor grants...most of the other counties came out of Rowan in Piedmont NC. The deeds although can be tedious to read....the ornate handwriting..but no distances like "it takes a man to smoke a cigarette" found yet here yet.
