It is literally a race to the bank...all the more reason to request having your name placed on the HUD 1 form to obtain payment upon funding of the loan when an abstractor is dealing with a client who is new or uncreditworthy. ...in which case payment is made by the disbursement agent rather than the client.

I have also seen posts indicating that they have filed for bankruptcy.
