If you are successful in obtaining your judgment, it is easily enforceable in other states. If the judgment is obtained after a trial at which the defendant appeared, it is simply a matter of getting verified copy of the judgment from the court that rendered judgment, and filing it with the court of the other state. It then becomes a judgment of that court.
If the judgment was obtained after the defendant was defaulted for failure to appear, it is necessary to initiate a new suit in the other state to satisfy the court that the other state had juriosdiction to render the original judgment. It is an expedited procedure, and your court costs are added on to the total of the judgment.to post a reply:
