You are right, some of the same people are still there- mostly the account handling personal. The management , as I was told, was changed completely, the accounting procedures are now under the supervision of different people. I assume their clients are the same- the kinds of searches are still the same- just commercial cell sites.
The new company provided a means to absorb part of the losses we incurred by way of their agreement to continue doing work for them, which by no means bound us to do anything, other than consider doing work for them. That arrangement was one which required a commitment by both parties in order for the new company to pay back ½ of what was owed by the old company, if you wanted ½ of the money that was owed, you agreed to it, if you didn't want anything the old company owed you, then there was no agreement and you got nothing, like Kurt apparently got. That situation left me with very few options since my business and livelihood is base on being paid money.
I know you like to get on my case for continuing to do work for them, but there are far more companies on here that just blow the abstractors away and leave them with nothing for all their efforts, which is penniless and out the time and effort. This company didn't do that.
As far as the next time, at least I will not be out more than 5 days work , if it does happen to occur, and I time progress on work with that in mind. We all would love to have steady paying customers and lots of work, but that just does not occur all the time anymore. The industry is ever changing, one of my steadiest clients finally gave up last month, after more than 20 years in the settlement business- I would never have thought that would occur, they paid like clock work, settle a case, balance the settlement statement, and I had checks waiting for me everyday.
Maybe my approach is not what some like, I welcome all comments about this anyway, there is always a chance I can change my ways from others experience.
