Loretta, I am offended for you. You of all people are always the first one with honest good advise (here and not-rot) and never have any bad intentions for anyone.
I agree my 16 years is worth more than what some people want to charge for a c/o. There is a girl in Virginia Beach doing them for $25. BUT she has only been doing it for less than 2 years too. Dang newbies in the biz think they can get all the work by dropping fees. It is reputation, relationships, service and fairness that keep the clients coming back to you. I learned that one a long time ago.
To Robert, raise that $30 price if you think your time and knowledge are a value. Never sell yourself short if you think you deserve to be in a different class of abstractors, act like it.
Ben Renko from Data-Search told us at the Dallas NALTEA conference that he would rather use an examiner he can build a relationship with and charges $45-$50 for a current owner than someone he doesnt know, never talks to and charges $25-30.
