I have not done any work with Absolute or Eclipse, but I had to put jump in here and say that I agree with Loretta & Anne. 

I was unfortunate enough to work for a company that was notorious for not paying their abstractors.  I, of course was one of the people, that received the calls from very angry (rightfully so) people.  I had no control over the money, I could only do my very best to see if I could get the person or persons who were in control of the money to pay the people that I dealt with everyday.  It is a very, very difficult position to be in.  We may not always agree with, and sometimes we even abhor the business practices of our employers.  But it has always been my view, that if you are working for someone & are receiving a paycheck from them, your loyalty lies with that employer.  Whether you like it or not.

I do not know the specifics of what is/was happening with Absolute.  I do know that when you decide to branch out & have employees, and other overhead, you take on a whole new set of responsibilities and problems.  Just as with with each of you, if you don't get paid, it becomes harder and harder for you to pay your bills.  Branching out only compounds that.  I am not condoning those companies that continually "stiff" abstractors.  I have been on the receiving end of that as well.  But don't beat up on the employees, it is not their fault.  They are trying to feed their families just as we are.  It is not so easy to just jump into another job, because you don't like where you are. 

I do not know who the principle owners are of Eclipse.  I too would have a problem, if it is owned by the same as Absolute.  This practice IS happening & we all need to be aware of it.  But if  Wayne is truthful in stating that Eclipse is not the same ownership, he should be given a chance & not be made to suffer for his past employment.  Time will tell the story.
