I agree it is bothersome, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that all ACS systems are troubled.  ACS is the most popular indexing system in Ohio and I haven't heard of many problems.  In fact, it is extremely more reliable than the old system we used to have in this county.

We have no idea what caused the problem... could have been something the clerks did locally, maybe a hardware malfunction, no idea.  It is just very odd that it only affected some of the records. 

Anyway, I would say that I prefer ACS over most indexing systems, but give me the books any day!
