Somewhere around ten years ago, as I recall, there were only a handful of independent examiners around the counties I worked in. We all knew who each other worked for and never thought twice about it. The clients used to call us at the courthouse on a public phone, send filings to the courthouse for us, and we even helped each other when one of us got busy. Never any need to hide your clients, when you were sick, you could count on someone getting your clients taken care of without fear of losing them forever.
Ah, the good old days. Who would have thought things could change so much in 10 years. Nearly everything has changed... except our fees.
