Just read about an amusing situation...well, amusing if you are not the property owner. Apparently one of the local property owners constructed a multi family dwelling on his property. He had a survey performed before he began construction. Everything looked fine for the proposed dwelling. He completed construction only to find that his neighbor a had 10 to 15 foot easement on his property.
The surveyor did not show the easement on the map. The building now stands partially on the neighbor's easement. The property owner is now faced with the choice of buying out the neighbor's easement in return for a release or demolishing a portion of the new construction. Needless to say, the neighbor is demanding top dollar for the release.
