Thank you for your response. The answer to all of the questions you have posed is...no. I have never served in the military, and therefore have not experienced combat. I have the utmost respect for those who do serve whether or not I agree with the foreign policy which requires them to serve.
I do support our troops in Iraq, but not the policy of reconstruction which requires them to serve in this theater of operation.
However, I think that there is a time to distinguish between a combat environment and that of peace. I do not advocate violence in any form other than that permitted by law for self defense. It seems to me that as distasteful as it may have been, it would have been more appropriate to walk away from the gentleman seated at the next table from you. As much as you may have been turned off with his dialogue, he does have the right to voice the opinion.
