Code of Professional Responsibilty clearly indicates that one instance of negligence is not grounds for disbarrment. Repeated negligence is. We are trained in law school to be sensitive to this issue. It is not a matter of what the general public thinks as much as it is of an infuriated client who has suffered a loss at the hands of a negligent attorney. Do you really think that a client that has purchased property subject to a missed encumbrance on a title search is not going to file a claim for his loss.
