Lisa, You are preaching to the choir here. I have never condoned on-line searches. And even if you had a county with the best information available, in my opinion you have to have an abstractor that actually knows what they are looking at.
But all the problems that abstractors have been talking about for years now regarding county websites has not stopped on-line searches being done. And now they are not only being done by inexperienced abstractors, they are being done by people overseas that have no idea what the difference is between a mortgage and a deed of trust.
What I was trying to say in my former post was that notaries & witness closers, need to understand that abstractor's are not the only jobs that are in jeopardy.
