Everyone has made some good points.  Personally, I don't worry too much about spelling and grammar in public message forums.  Its kind of informal, like email, people don't tend to take the same approach to this type of communication as they would if they were writing a professional letter to a client.  I don't think that is a big problem - it has sort of become acceptable.  I don't always run the spell-check myself.  Sometimes we get in a hurry, and sometimes we post in the heat of the moment (very passionately) and make mistakes.

However, it is also a valid concern that potential clients would read the forums and some may develop a "first impression" of the individual from the posts.  It is always a good idea to present the best image because you never now how the reader will perceive it.

As for constructive criticism, we all take that differently too - some appreciate it, some are offended by it.  It is hard to really understand the tone of a persons comments from reading a post.  I try not to take things in posts, or even emails, too personally because it is sometimes hard to tell how it was intended.  However, it is sometimes difficult not to take things personally.  It is just a part of our human nature.

Best,
Robert A. Franco
