It is interesting to see that Cook County has renounced the Torrens system. I had an opportunity to work with it when I was in law school.
in Chicago. My real estate law professor explained the system in detail, but I was never able to see what advantage the Torrens system had over the titles system. If anything, it would seem that switching property back and forth between titles and Torrens would result in an abstractor's nightmare.
Fortunately, Connecticut has never adopted the Torrens system.
