[-] Rush, ASAP... - Jay Duncan/MO (12 replies)

I've noticed that more and more of our orders contain the following words; RUSH

ASAP

SUPER ASAP

RUSH, RUSH

RUSH, RUSH, RUSH

SUPER RUSH

SUPER, SUPER RUSH

SUPER, SUPER, SUPER RUSH

NEED IMMEDIATELY

CLOSING TOMORROW

CLOSING TODAY

CLOSING THIS AFTERNOON

CLOSING THIS MORNING

It is getting to the point that those words appear on almost every order.  You then start to become numb to their meaning as you race to complete your work.  I guess this is just another part of our hurry up world.

Ok I'm going to date myself here, remember when Sunday dinner after church took 1-2 hours to fix?  Now you can have it in 5 minutes and it is not necessarily better (sound familiar?).  I remember it tasted better even though it took longer.  I still enjoy cooking that 1-2 hour meal, especially meals like home-made stew and fried chicken with all the fixings.  Some things are just better when we can take our time.  Too bad we are so rushed to complete our searches.

So what ideas can we come up with to let the clients know that, yes we realize they must stay competitive with speed, but we must be given time to complete our searches thoroughly as so to benefit the client and the consumer, as well as protect ourselves and be paid a reasonable price?  And are we willing to get involved to help get the message out there?  You may not agree with everything NALTEA does, no one will agree with everything anyone does, but it is the only abstractor based association formed with the abstractor in mind.

I invite you to join us at the Winter Conference in Clearwater, Florida.  You can download an application and a registration form at www.naltea.org .

Looking forward to your ideas and your involvement.

Jay Duncan
