It seemed to me one of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas. I wish I had but I'm glad someone did. What was left of the facilities at Reese are perfect for this kind of thing. Unfortunately, there wasn't nearly enough left. Lubbock is expected to take in 1000 refugees today but most will have to be housed at the colliseum. We only have one dorm that hasn't been canabalyzed, sold off or otherwise made unusuable. So 90 refugees will be housed in the dorm.

The more recently closed bases should have living quarters for tens of thousands. If I understood correctly there is a base in Fort Smith Arkansas that is housing 3000 refugees. I only caught part of the report on the weather channel so I'm not sure I understood it correctly.

I also heard from some friends and family that San Angelo, Texas (pop 88,439) is taking in five hundred. Even tiny Big Spring Texas (pop. 25,000) is expecting the arrival of 200.

I think Boston  is also becoming a new home for many. I believe every community no matter how small can step up to the plate on this and offer to help these fellow Americans. I hope everyone who reads this will give some thought to the long term facilities your community may have and then ask your city and county leaders what it would take to make these facilities available.
