Is it any wonder title insurance claims are up so much?  The big players in the industry seem to think that they can save a fortune by cutting out "real" abstracts. I would like to know if they have ever done a title search.  The few dollars they save by buying a thin-title plant product is going to quickly get paid out in title insurance claims; along with their profits.

Someone needs to let them know that a good, thorough title search is worth every penny when they are using it to base hundreds of thousands of dollars in insurance.  Its a lot like preventative medicine.  Going to the doctor early can prevent more serious and costly problems in the future.
