I agree with you, though I don't think it is good for the industry. I think quality will suffer and as David Bloys has pointed out - if we can get this information to do our jobs, so can identity thieves. Though speed is definitely an advantage to on-line searching, many are promoting this as a necessary move to cut costs for consumers and that simply isn't true. This push toward on-line access is being sold as a cost cutting move that will benefit consumers, when in reality it will increase costs and cause risks that should be unacceptable to consumers by publishing their personal (though public) information.
The value of our expertise should be the most important factor for our clients, but many of them are not considering quality - it is all about price and speed.
