That is what I mean. These companies have licenses to underwrite and sell the insurance. SOme of them even do the escrow part of it too and just sub contract the closing part of it. Do you realize how much money is made from that? We charge what, $75 for a witness closing, give or take a few if they are emailed, and then in the HUD they charge $350 for the closing, plus we charge on average $50 for the search and the HUD says $150 and then there is the binder fee they charge to type up the commitment and policy which I have seen to be up as high as $150 and then of course the money made off of the premiums for the insurance. Geesh! The split is around 75/25 for some agencies with the agency getting the 75%.
No wonder I want to start doing insurance, I take my license test Thursday.
