Of course he paid them. It began as retaliation for their coming in lowballing to take established clients. Maybe you have so much work that it doesn't affect you, if so, that's great. But you're in a minority if that's true. The end result is that they bit off more than they could chew and found out they were now servicing the guy they took work from. It was their choice to discontinue low pricing.
