Is it just me or do you all (abstractors) have a problem with giving referrals of companies you work with in order to obtain new business?  

I have been burned in the past because I was desperate for business and I gave out such information and now I am very hesitant.  How do you all feel about such information being requested by a company in order to do business with them?   

Just curious to know if I'm the only hesitant one in the bunch!
