Good morning Walter,
The NALTEA certification process has been completed and we are putting
the final touches on the test, which was a major ordeal since it is a
national test.  We are still looking for more state specific question so
each person can take a test that is more state oriented for their location.
NALTEA has issued press releases concerning privacy issues and their
alliance with AFN.
The two E and O providers are waiting for a copy of the final test so
they can then give us a program for those who are certified.
The Code of Ethics has been completed and approved.
This January's conference contains several educational workshops.
NALTEA was included in a panel discussion at the REO 5 STAR conference
and we have sat down in discussions with Fannie Mae about abstract and title
curative issues.
This was all done by a small group of volunteers, abstractors who took
time away from thier business to help in NALTEA's efforts to make the
abstractor's portion of the industry better.
The future for NALTEA is getting our name out there and our goals for
the industry.  Better education, training, pay, better and more in-depth
searches to protect consumers and recognation for the part abstractors play
in title work that everything else is based on.
But the small group of volunteers cannot do it by themselves.  We need
members to help out in various committees.
Feel free to call me.  I'm in Kansas City these week and you can reach
me at 816-350-7673.
