I am currently in an MBA program and work full time at a title company. I have been with the title company for over a decade and have worked under many capacities. This company deals mainly with refi’s.
I recently completed a research paper in systems management that addressed some of the issues that I have seen over the years. I would like to have an abstractor’s take on solutions that I would propose.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
- Would you as an abstractor be willing to take a lap top to the county to enter findings directly into it? If not, why not? Also if not, would you be willing to use a laptop if a client title company provided you with one?
- Would you be willing to work in a program system designed by the client title company? Ex: you would be provided a program with predetermined questions just like an abstractor’s worksheet. We get work from many different abstractors who have their own form (if any) that they fill out. This would standardize the info we receive.
- Would you be willing to communicate via email or other digital formats?
- How up to date is the technology that you use? What about other abstractors in your area? (if you knew)
- Do you have a system that notifies the title company that you will not be charging a fee for an abstract request? (no charge) ex: you didn’t get to it in time, the property was not in your county...
- How accurate is your billing system? Would you be willing to use a client title company’s software to keep track of orders, documents, billing and payments?
- Is there something out there that is already available to you?
My project is done, but I am wondering how these solutions would be perceived by abstractors. May I have your input? Anything else you would like to share or other input would be welcome.
Thank you for your time. Happy holidays! In the meantime I’ll read more of the forum to see if I can dig out any more insight.
