[-] Things that make you wonder - Sam Borum/FL (11 replies)

I cover one county, I will not say which, but if you work in the area you know which one.

The county has there index online, there images online, but if you want to download or print the images a fee of 200$ per month is required
I go to the clerks office to acquire documents but the only way that you can acquire the documents at the clerks office is to print them out from either one of the three computers, or if they are not on computer then off of Micro-film. I was also informed that if I wanted to buy the entire book they were 25$ a cd. I spoke with a nice gentleman at the courthouse regarding this and he informed that the county had to make there money.

Can someone tell me what the stamps and all the fees that are paid for in regards to the filing of documents, is there not a filing fee attached. I can understand the cost of printing out at the courthouse but to not offer at least the books when you go in, and to charge a fee to print off the website when your allowed to view the index then view the image.

I feel the clerk is holding its PUBLIC RECORDS for ransom at a dollar per page or if you want bulk we will cut you a deal.

I have a mobile office and a portable scanner for reason of cutting out this cost. I cover one other county that has the same standard at the courthouse but there online is free and goes back to 1969 so a fair trade off I feel.

I am sure that the county is perfectly in its right to charge whatever it likes, as long as it is reasonable.

I cover 22 counties and even one county has the books locked but a clerk will open it and allow you to scan the document in, then replace the page lock the bock and place it back on the shelf at no cost and always with a smile and a thank you.

I wonder why we have such a difference at one courthouse from the 22 other counties I cover. Makes me wonder. Any thoughts?
