Hello all,

Just incase any of you aren't hip to the forum lingo, flaming someone is relentlessly lambasting someone on a public forum. So, here goes.

String
"Outsourcing Solutions for the Real Estate Industry"
Prashat "PK" Kothari
President and Founder
(V) 888-3string ext. 702
(E) ppkothari@stringinfo.com
(W) www.stringinfo.com

Here is one of the culprits involved with independent abstractors losing their livelyhood. The guy had the balls to try and convince me that what he was doing was for the good of the industry as a whole. I was a couple cocktails deep at the ALTA tech forum when he laid this info on me. He tried to tell me that only a couple hundred jobs were actually lost. That independent abstractors were actually getting more business due to his company needing the searches. So on and so forth about how he actually hired more abstractors than abstractors being run out of business.

You guys want a name and a face of the downsizing of American title insurance? Well here he is. He's a nice enough guy personally, but he just doesn't believe that people in a courthouse make all the difference. He is the one turning our industry into casualty insurance instead of title insurance.

I asked him what if you go into an auditors office and all their assessments are in a three ring binder and not online. How do you account for that liability. His response was it was ultimately the responsibility of the title agent to approve the search. So what, we have to double check all their work? Why not just do it ourselves was my question. His response, it costs too much.

My thought.... I'm willing to pay 100 bucks for a job well done instead of 10k a pop per claim to my E&O carrier.

Just going through my business book and ran across this guy's card, that's what spurned me to make this post.

ya know what, I may as well flame the rest of my card catalogue while I'm at it. I'm just thoroughly disgusted right now with our industry that I'm considering a career change.

NextAce    www.nextace.com  Responsible for getting those docs digitized and online.

Simplifile   www.simplifile.com  making sure those contract closers are no longer needed. Why go to the courthouse when you can just email your filing.

ATI  www.ati-imaging.com  Another fabulous company responsible for gathering those images so every turban wearing person in the world can see who, what, how much and were we are.

Windward www.windwardrevolution.com perhaphs the anti-christ of the title industry. This fine gentleman's optical character recognition software is used by many data miners around the world today. he is a ncie enough guy also but is responsible for bringing "efficiency" (massive job loss) to the title industry.

Ok, I'm done. I don't think I committed any libel or broke any laws because what I have said is true. Robert, feel free to moderate my post if you think I may have stepped over the line.

Look forward to all your comments.

George (disgruntled title grunt)
